Run your old DOS programs

by on Nov.28, 2005, under Tech Tips

I cant think of many old dos programs that I’d actually want to run anymore but some of my older games wont run under Win XP or Wine on Linux, so to play them again I had to find something that could do it, I found Dosbox, its a x86 emulator running a copy of dos, it’ll run under linux, windows, and mac. So far all I’ve used it for is to play Worms and Doom 2 as I havnt read the instructions yet to find out how to get the CD drive to work properly for games like C&C

NTFS for Windows 98 and Linux

by on Sep.15, 2005, under Tech Tips

I found this a quite handy tool, if you have an NTFS drive that you need to get something off on a windows 98 system, especially useful if you’re dual booting
NTFS for windows 98 why anyone would still have a windows 98 machine I have no idea as its so old now though.

NTFS for Linux Works the same as for the windows 98 but will allow access to your NTFS filesystem from your Linux install, I actually use this to mount one of my NTFS drives to access my music library that I recorded in windows before I installed Linux.

Internet Paranioa

Just because you paranoid doesn’t mean they’re not after you.

Everyone’s worried about spyware, cookies, viruses and worms, and if your not worried your either not using your own computer to surf or very confident in your current security set up (mac users seem to fit in this category form what I’ve seen on other blogs and forums).
